Frequently Asked Questions...

How do I join the MOMS Club® of Raleigh - North, NC?
The easiest way to join is to come to a business meeting. Please contact us for times and locations. This way you can get to know some of the other members and take a look at our upcoming calendar. There will be applications available at every business meeting; just fill out the application and submit your $25 dues to join!

Why do I pay a membership fee?
The money from the membership dues goes back into the MOMS Club® of Raleigh - North, NC. This money is used for renting our meeting space, refreshments, printing and postage costs and supplies. In addition, we may make an occasional charitable contribution to a worthy cause. We also pay annual chapter dues to the national MOMS Club organization.

Do we do anything for the community?
YES! In addition to being a support network for the other moms in our chapter, we also try to give back to the community each year. In the past we have had food, toy, and clothing collections, which we then donated to the needy. This year we will be sponsoring a family in need during the holidays, as well as making a contribution to the Mother-to-Mother ("M2M") Fund to assist MOMS in need.

Which events are child friendly?
All events are child friendly. This includes the monthly business meeting. A nursery is provided during the business meeting for those mothers who agree to help with the nursery once a year.

Can children of any age attend a playgroup?
Playgroups are generally divided by age as follows:

Playgroup A – birth - 1 year
Playgroup B – 1 – 2 years
Playgroup C – 2 – 3 years
Playgroup D – over 3 years

The reason we divide into smaller age-based playgroups is primarily because of the developmental differences that exist between the age groups. Babies and 4 year olds play quite differently! In addition, we hope to encourage friendships between mothers’ and their children and find that child age is a common ground that tends to facilitate communication and connection. Finally, moms will often prefer to invite just one playgroup when hosting at a play date to keep the size of the playgroup manageable.

If a play date is scheduled for a particular playgroup and a mother has not only a child in that playgroup age, but also a child of another age, the sibling is welcome to attend. Of course, there are also plenty of events on our calendar that are open for children of all ages. We want to make easy for our members to be as active as possible!
