GlobalNet is directly connected to the Internet. All of our hosts possess their own exclusive connection to the Internet, we do not utilize any type of relay service, or other pseudo-connective devices. All hosts on the net- work run in straight UNIX environments on Sun hardware, we DO NOT run any of our servers on PC systems, simply because we have found PCs too slow and unable to provide the type of access required for a true interactive usage of the Internet.

GTI utilizes only the highest performance hardware to meet your connectivity needs, including Sun Sparc 10 and Sparc 20 Workstations for speed and maximum computing power at your fingertips, Cisco 2501 Routers for peak packet traffic routing performance, Livingston Portmaster terminal servers for SLIP/PPP flexibility and traffic prioritizing, and high speed 33.6 modems with true V.34 support!

To aid users in navigating the Internet though our services, both user friendly menus and Graphical User Interfaces are provided for those users that wish to use them. Users may also select the more traditional pure Unix Shells such as Csh, Sh, Ksh, Bash, Tcsh, Zsh, and others.

GTI GlobalNet has two basic types of personal accounts, a full Internet access Shell Account or a SLIP/PPP account, which includes a free accompanying Shell Account, for your convenience.
